Our story
Why we built it this way
Hifzul Quran Academy began with a straightforward observation. Families who wanted their children to learn the Quran properly were often choosing between a crowded local class, where a child might recite for two minutes an hour, and no class at all. Adults who wanted to start or resume had even fewer options, and most quietly gave up.
Online teaching solves the logistics of that problem — no travel, no fixed timings, no dependence on whoever happens to teach nearby. But it introduces a new one. Because anyone can run a video call, the quality of online Quran teaching varies enormously, and families have no easy way to tell the difference before they have already committed several months.
So we built the academy around the parts that are hard to fake. Every teacher is tested by us on recitation and Tajweed rather than on the strength of a certificate. Every applicant teaches an observed trial lesson with a real student, which is the stage that filters out the most people. Every student keeps the same teacher, and that teacher keeps a written record of exactly what was covered and what still needs work.
None of that is a novel method. It is how the Quran has been taught for centuries. We simply decided that moving it online was not a reason to change any of it.
A teacher who never corrects you is being polite, not helpful.

Correction over comfort
A student who is never corrected feels good about lessons that are not working. We would rather someone hears the truth about their recitation in week one than discovers it after four years.

Honest pace
We slow students down when revision starts slipping, even when the family would prefer faster progress. Memorisation that does not hold is not progress, and saying so early is part of the job.

Access for everyone
Male and female teachers as permanent staff, classes in every time zone, and family packages so cost does not decide which of your children gets to learn.

Adab in every class
Patience with beginners, respect for adults returning after years away, and no student made to feel behind. Learning the Quran is not a competition.

You are matched with one teacher who stays with you. Nobody is passed between whoever happens to be free that day.

Assessed before placed
Every student is tested in the first class and starts from where they actually are, not from the beginning of a fixed syllabus.

Written progress records
Teachers log what was covered and what needs work after every class, so progress is a matter of record rather than impression.

Free to change teacher
A mismatch in pace or style is common and nobody's fault. Tell us and we reassign at no cost, with no persuasion.
Vetting
How a teacher joins us
Five stages, every applicant. More people fail the third than any other.

Recitation tested
Randomly selected portions recited to a senior teacher. Certificates are checked but do not decide it.

Tajweed exam
Makharij, madd, ghunnah and qalqalah — assessed in recitation, not answered as theory.

Observed trial
A live lesson with a real student, watched. Many excellent reciters do not pass this stage.

Background checks
Identity verification and references from previous institutions before any assignment.

Reviewed on whether students are measurably progressing, not on classes delivered.

What we don't do
Every academy lists what it offers. These are the things we have decided against, and why.

We don't run group classes
In a group of eight, a child recites for a fraction of the lesson and listens for the rest. It is cheaper to deliver and considerably less effective, so we do not offer it.

We don't rotate teachers
Assigning whoever is free is efficient for us and bad for the student, because nobody holds the history of what you struggle with. One teacher, kept.

We don't promise a timeline we can't set
Nobody can tell you how long memorisation will take before hearing you recite. Any academy that quotes a duration on day one is guessing, and usually guessing low.

We don't take sides between schools of thought
Quran reading, memorisation and Tajweed are common to all Muslims, and that is what we teach. Where practice differs, your teacher follows the way your family follows.

Our teaching staff is based in Pakistan and our students are worldwide. All classes are conducted online, so location is not a barrier for either side.
Are your teachers formally qualified?
Every teacher has completed memorisation of the Quran or holds a recognised qualification in Islamic studies, and all are tested on Tajweed by us directly rather than accepted on the basis of a certificate. Applicants also pass an observed teaching trial with a real student before being assigned.
Do you teach children and adults?
Both. Our youngest students are around five and our oldest are in their sixties. Because classes are one-to-one, the pace and teaching style are set for the individual rather than a class average.
Do you teach according to a particular school of thought?
We teach Quran reading, memorisation and Tajweed, which are common to all Muslims. Where practice differs between schools of thought, your teacher follows the one your family follows — tell us when you enrol.
Can I request a female teacher?
Yes, at any point and at no additional cost. Female teachers are permanent staff rather than arranged on request, so there is no waiting list.
